Swimmers will be assigned to groups by coaching staff.

Dolphins

Must be able to complete one length of the pool Freestyle and Backstroke

Master basic skills for Freestyle and Backstroke

Introduced to Butterfly and Breaststroke

Instruction in starts and turns

Introduced to beginning training techniques and swim meet procedures

Practice recommendation: 3x per week

 

Sting Rays

Performance standard: 10x50 on 1:30

Have intermediate skill level for Freestyle and Backstroke

Continued work on Butterfly and Breaststroke

Refinement of starts and turns

Receive intermediate training techniques

Practice recommendation: 3-4x per week

 

Tiger Sharks

Minimum age: 9 years old

Performance standard: 10x50 on 1:10

Move toward advanced skill level in all 4 strokes

Emphasis on endurance training through sets and intervals

Practice recommendation: 4-5x per week

 

Makos

Performance standard: 10x100 on 1:40

Refinement of all 4 strokes through advanced drills

Continued work on endurance training

Practice recommendation: 5-6x per week

 

Group placement/advancement is based on above performance standards and coach recommendation.  In order to be considered for group placement/advancement, swimmers must first be able to demonstrate the performance standard for that group.  Head coach and coaching staff have final say on group placement/advancement.
