Team Operating Costs

The Aspen Swim Club functions as a "doing business as" (dba) operation under the actual registered name of the Aspen Swim Club, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Fees are paid to the Club on a seasonal basis. The Club, in turn, pays the Coaches' expenses; meet entry fees, CSI Registration fees, pool time, and other team operating costs.

Other costs associated with the swim team are paid for from other raised funds. These funds are generated through grant requests and fund raisers carried out by swim team members. The funds are used to pay for items such as equipment purchases, social events (e.g. pot lucks), awards, etc.

Fees

The cost to be a member of the swim team includes a basic Team Fee. This fee is used to pay the primary expenses and operational costs.

All swimmers must pay their swim dues in order to participate with the Aspen Swim Club. Membership fees are as follows:

- Seasonal ASC Fee: $50 per family

- Annual USA Swimming Registration Fee: $54 per swimmer (paid upon joining the team and renewed each year)

- Meet entry fees @ $20.00 per meet.

- Seasonal swim fees are based on training hours. Speak to the coaching staff if you have questions about how many hours per week that your swimmer should be training.

3 Hours per week $ 140

4.5 Hours per week $ 210

6 Hours per week $ 280

8 Hours per week $ 375

10 Hours per week $ 470

Note that the Team Fee includes use of the pool for practices only. If swimmers desire to use the facility before or after practice, they must have an ARC pass and must check in with the front desk.

All Team Fees must be paid before a swimmer will be allowed to participate in any team related activities, including practices.

Other costs associated with the Swim Team are at the expense of the swimmer/family. These expenses include costs associated with attending swim meets; such as transportation, lodging, meals, etc. Swimmers are also responsible for purchasing their own team swim suits, caps, goggles and other gear as they feel necessary.

Team clothing & other gear is available through Action Accents. Click on the Swim Suits / Clothing / Equipment link on the Team home page for pricing and ordering info.

New Swimmers

The Aspen Swim Club (ASC) offers a free one-day trial to any swimmer interested in joining the team. This program is designed to introduce swimmers to the team and to test swimmers for the basic requirements of joining the team. (See General Info & FAQs in the Team Info section on the Team Home Page for more information on qualifying for the team.)

A parent or guardian must sign the Acknowledgement of Risk & Release of Liability Form prior to a swimmer practicing with the team. Note that during this tryout period, the swimmer is not yet registered with USA Swimming and, consequently, is not covered under the supplemental insurance provided by USA Swimming.

Scholarships

The team has a limited number of scholarships for those whom the team fee may be a burden. To qualify recipients must be in the Aspen School lunch program. Recipients of Scholarships will be required to work at any of the Team fund raising events such as the Swimathon, Triathlon, etc.

Tax Deductible Contributions

The team also depends on contributions for support. As a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, contributions to the team are tax deductible. The team welcomes any support that individuals or companies my want to contribute. Such support is acknowledged in letter form providing the Club's FEIN for tax reporting purposes. Consultation with a tax advisor is recommended for clarification of such deductibility.

Swimathon

The team is anticipating that a Swimathon will be held in order to raise funds to offset the true cost of the practices and other Team Expenses. This will likely occur during one of the regularly scheduled practices. Info on this will be provided as it becomes available.

Triathlon

The swim team generates funds by providing support during the High Country Triathlon. The team volunteers as lap counters at the swimming portion of the event; and in some cases, volunteers along the foot race course. For this volunteer work the team receives a flat sum from the event organizers. Parents and swimmers are needed for help at this event.
